The tears are still blurring my vision after watching 14 year old Royce Mann do his poetry slam called “White Boy Privilege.” I feel full of hope when someone so young can see the inequality so many need to battle. Recognizing the problem is step one, next up admitting it…followed by real solutions to raise everyone up to that top run of privilege. Below is video of the full poem and here is a news interview with the amazingly eloquent youth.
I’m always pleased when I hear about people out doing good deeds…and even more when it is kids. Deep hope for the future! Here’s a great Facebook post with a video about kids in Bristol out doing good deeds. Great job kids…let’s keep it going.
We will be at Happy Streets Ahmedabad again tomorrow May 15th. Come play “Acting Kindly.” It’s a social game where players practice random acts of kindness and playful deeds to bring joy to others. In the game each team is a spaceship.
They draw cards and do deeds, challenges or are interrupted by rascals. Together they gather fuel from their actions in order to merge with other teams to create a whole community of Earthlings helping others, meeting strangers and entertaining crowds. The Proto-Deck was recently finished and we’re getting a fantastic reaction to the cards and game play.
Please come to CG Road near CG Square Mall right opposite the little Havmor Ice Cream shop. We’ll be playing the game and kids can draw there own aliens and create cards for a prize. Come Act Kindly and change the world.
Sorry for the late notice, but wanted to let everyone know I will be part of the eChai Startup Forum Ahmedabad tonight (Thursday, May 12, 2016) at VentureStudio between 6:30 and 8:30 pm tonight.
Looking forward to hanging out with old friends including Jatin Chaudhary and Dhruv Gupta (ProfiledSkin) and new friend Mahendra Chaudhari (Aatap Energy) as well as aquaintences Anang Mistry (Purple i Media) and Bhargav Patel (Sport-a-thon).
There are times when you’re working on an idea you just don’t know if anyone else will like it. Stomach flip-flops and morning panic are fairly common no matter how much one’s “gut” feels good about the concept.
Yesterday, at Happy Streets here in Ahmedabad we had a tremendous validation of the “Acting Kindly” card game. Hundreds of kids and
parents showed their interest starting from anxious curiosity, followed by active engagement and ending with energetic excitement.
The smiles were wide as people started understanding the idea behind the game. To be publicly practicing random acts of kindness and fun things to bring joy to others touched people and got them truly enthused.
We threw together a quick video to give everyone an idea about how incredible the event was. Confidence is high and we’re getting ready for a CrowdFunding campaign so we can finish the complete game and have people all over “Acting Kindly.”
For the past few weeks Greg and his friends from the Compassionate Clowning group in Ahmedabad have been attending Happy Streets on Sunday mornings (6:30 to 9:30 am) and have a tremendous time. The event has one of the main business streets closed for three hours on one side and is full of pedestrians, skaters, bicyclists…loads of people laughing and smiling…along with a few CLOWN.
“It’s one of the best events I’ve ever attended in my life,” says Greg Acuna the Planet Earthlings founder. It’s pure joy interacting with so many people, having photos taken with hundreds and bringing them smiles and laughter. The connection has been incredible. The warmth so touching.
Anyone interested in Compassionate Clowning please let us know. On Saturday afternoons we have the honor of going to entertain the kids in the pediatric cancer ward at GSC Hospital. This kind of clowning is an opportunity to really touch children who need it and affects the clowns deeply. We hope to encourage many more to take the time to become clowns for a fantastic cause. It will change your life.
Let’s close this post with a little video of Greg dancing at the main stage of Happy Streets Ahmedabad. The zumba teacher is amazing…and we’ll introduce him soon.
Interviewed yesterday after the Press Conference here at GUSEC. Small article in the Patrick local Hindi Newspaper. Glad to see the news about Planet Earthlings is spreading. More coming soon.
Greetings Earthlings! One of the big pieces of news I hinted at recently is Planet Earthlings has created the prototype for our first game. It is an actual card game called “Acting Kindly.” It’s a social game where players practice random acts of kindness and playful deeds to bring joy to others.
You can check out the game HERE. We’ve arranged to play a huge game this Sunday, May 8th at 8 am here in Ahmedabad as part of the Times of India “Happy Streets” event. We’ve been clowning at Happy Streets the past few weeks and you can see a fun photo of Greg in the bottom right of the Times on April 18th…and a nice mention of us in a story on April 25th. Please come to CG Road near CG Square Mall right opposite the little Havmor Ice Cream shop at 7:45 am to collect your cards and start forming teams. Greg will be on the main stage explaining the game at 8 am. The first 100 teams to show up at Happy Streets north of the main stage will receive a free ProtoDeck and take part in the game. It will be tremendous fun running around interacting with the crowd.
If you want to catch up on the idea behind the game take a look at the “Flight Manual.”
The company is soon starting a pan-India crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to complete the full 54 card deck of “Acting Kindly.” They will also be connecting with summer camps and later schools so kids can create their own cards and influence the development of the game. Planet Earthlings has created a social network at www.planetearthlings.org to bring together youth, parents, educators and others interested in empowering children. On the website they will be part of the Planet Earthlings team to add their ideas and efforts to changing the world.
Our long-term plan is to create a fully graphical 3D web and app based virtual world where children from all over the planet can learn, play and create together both online and offline. “The ability to learn anything from anywhere is one of the most exciting developments of our time,” Greg often says. “We are going to empower young people using cutting edge technology and values of a strong global community.”
Please take the time to Register for our website to join the team. Also like our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter. We’re pushing ahead now and need all the support we can get.
Glad to report Planet Earthlings has just received a grant of seed funding from Gujarat Corporate Social Responsibility Authority (GCSRA). This is great news because it means we will also have support from GCSRA and the opportunity to connect with potential CSR funding which a social impact project like ours definitely deserves. Read about it on YourStory clicking here.
Big thanks to Gujarat University, GUSEC and Rahul Bhagchandani for their immediate and dedicated support of Planet Earthlings. Here’s the stairs leading up to our new
Duniya, my daughter sent me a message this morning saying, “watch this you will love it.” And she was right. Planet Earthlings is about getting past the old misconceptions which have brought the world so much sorrow. Let’s all yell, “I’m an Earthling.”
NOTE: We’ve added a “Video” tab to the menu where you will be able to find all the videos we share. If you have any suggestions…please let us know by commenting below or on our contact form.
