From 2006 to 2008 I was working on a project which was the precursor to Planet Earthlings. It was an animation/live-action TV pilot. Over the three years more than 125 people in seven countries worked on the project. We had a team of over 50 animators working at the Frameboxx incubation center in Mumbai and I directed four incredibly talented young people in LA with a crew of 35. Choreography was done by Saroj Khan and to the left an early version of the characters appeared on the cover of a national magazine. We also licensed the characters for a Nintendo DS game.
It was my dream to create something fun for young people which would get them on their feet and doing things connected to making the world a better place. Our slogan…”One People, One Planet.” When the pilot was finished we signed with one of the top entertainment agents in London, but unfortunately that was in the Fall of 2008 and the world economy went into meltdown. The project failed and I had to walk away, but still I believed it is possible to make the world a better, fairer and more peaceful place.
Check out a few of the video for the pilot which I always thought of as a proof-of-concept. Maybe one day we’ll go back to it, but for now really pleased to be making be making games for change.
